This notice explains how Study duo ("we") collects and uses personal data when you use StudyDuo. We are the data controller for your personal data.

What we collect & why

• Account data (name, email, password hash) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: contract.
• Uploaded study materials — to generate lessons, flashcards and notes for you. Legal basis: contract.
• Usage & device data (pages viewed, IP address, device identifiers, basic telemetry) — for security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Support messages — to respond to inquiries. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Payment data is collected and processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, not by us.

Who we share with

• Service providers / subprocessors — cloud hosting, database, AI model providers used to generate study materials.
• Paddle.com — as our Merchant of Record for sales, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) when needed.
• Authorities when required by law.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, and delete or anonymise it when no longer needed. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your uploaded materials.

Your rights

Depending on your country, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing of your data, and to withdraw consent. EU/UK users may complain to their supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise any of these rights — we respond within one month.

International transfers

Your data may be processed outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions).

Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures (encryption in transit, access controls, principle of least privilege).

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and the app working. We do not set advertising cookies.
